LONGWOOD, Fla. – Local law enforcement is taking a fresh approach to building stronger ties with the people they serve. The Longwood Police Department has kicked off its first-ever “PARTNERS Program,” a community law enforcement academy designed to provide residents with a behind-the-scenes look at how their police department operates.
The initiative is about more than just transparency, it’s about connection. According to the police chief, the program aims to give residents one-on-one knowledge about the wide range of services the department provides, from patrol operations to specialized community outreach.
Participants in the inaugural class recently had the opportunity to step inside the department, observe demonstrations and ask questions directly to the officers who serve their neighborhoods. From learning about traffic enforcement to gaining insight into investigative processes, the program offers a true insider’s perspective.
Today on Trooper Steve on Patrol, we’ll be joined by one of Longwood’s law enforcement officers to share what the class experienced firsthand and how it’s already shaping community relationships.
For those interested in being part of the next Partners Program, the department encourages residents to keep an eye out for future enrollment opportunities. It’s a chance not only to learn but also to become a true partner in keeping Longwood a safe and connected community.
