Scooter rider dies after crashing in Osceola County, FHP says

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A 44-year-old Davenport man riding a scooter near Kissimmee crashed Sunday morning and later died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 9:36 a.m. on West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, east of 4 Winds Boulevard, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the man was traveling eastbound in the outside lane of W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway and tried to change to the inside lane when he lost control of the scooter.

The man was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced dead, the report states. Troopers believe he was not wearing a helmet during the crash.

FHP is still investigating.
