HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A 42-year-old Webster man riding a motorcycle in Hernando County was killed in a crash Saturday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 7 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 301 and Whispering Oaks Boulevard, troopers said.
According to a preliminary FHP crash report, the Webster man was riding a motorcycle southbound on U.S. 301, approaching Whispering Oaks Boulevard, as two SUVs were northbound on U.S. 301 in the left turn lane.
The forwardmost SUV attempted to turn left onto Whispering Oaks Boulevard, entering the motorcyclist’s direct path, the report states. The motorcycle then struck the SUV and ejected the rider, who went on to strike the other SUV in the turn lane, troopers said.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to FHP.
Neither of the other drivers — a 66-year-old Dade City man in the SUV that the motorcyclist struck and a 44-year-old Ridge Manor woman in the other SUV — were injured in the crash, troopers said.
