OCALA, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol troopers say they’ve arrested a woman accused of hitting and killing a man who was pushing a grocery cart across State Road 200 in Marion County earlier this week, and then fleeing the area.

Troopers arrested Somer Lynn Fox, 32, of Seminole on Friday. She’s facing charges of failing to stop/remain at the scene of a crash involving death.

The crash occurred just before 8 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of S.R. 200 and SW 60th Street, troopers said.

According to FHP, Fox was driving a van, traveling west in the right lane of S.R. 200, when she struck the pedestrian — a 76-year-old Ocala man — as he walked north across the road.

Officials said the van left the scene, where the pedestrian was later pronounced dead.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact FHP Cpl. John Gurrieri at 352-512-6641 or CrimeStoppers.
