Trooper Steve checks out Mills 50 in Orlando

Vibrant neighborhood surrounds intersection of Mills, SR-50

ORLANDO, Fla. – Today’s stream takes us into the heart of the city of Orlando, where we’ll be focusing on Mills Avenue, the main street running through the vibrant Mills 50 neighborhood.

Located just north of Colonial Drive, Mills 50 is known for its diverse restaurants, many of them Asian-owned, as well as colorful public art and a collection of independent businesses that give the area its unique character. But behind the bright murals and bustling storefronts, residents and commuters have raised concerns about traffic, safety, and accessibility.

Recently, complaints have surfaced about the lack of safe pedestrian crossings and limited bicycle infrastructure along Mills Avenue. For a neighborhood celebrated for being walkable and community-driven, these gaps stand out.

That’s why today we’re taking a drive down Mills Avenue during the morning commute, not just to see what traffic looks like, but to compare how this corridor stacks up against other areas of Orlando when it comes to infrastructure and safety.
