E-bike rider killed in 4-vehicle crash on SR-536 in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 40-year-old Orlando man riding an e-bike was killed Monday morning in a four-vehicle crash on State Road 536 near Disney World in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 6:40 a.m. on Epcot Center Drive west of Interstate 4.

According to a crash report, an e-bike, a 2016 Honda Civic, a 2018 Ford Fusion and a 2021 Toyota Camry were heading west on SR-536 when the e-bike traveled into the direct path of the Honda

The front of the Honda hit the back of the e-bike and a chain-reaction collision happened between the Honda, Ford and Toyota.

The e-bike rider was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Honda driver, a 57-year-old Orlando woman, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The other two drivers were uninjured.

Troopers initially said the crash involved a motorcycle but later updated the information and said it involved an e-bike.

The roadway was closed but has since reopened.

An investigation is ongoing.
