HAINES CITY, Fla. – Four people were injured, two critically, Monday night in a Polk County crash involving an ambulance and a pickup truck, officials said.
The wreck happened on U.S. 27 near Lucerne Park Road, just south of Haines City.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said the ambulance was taking a patient to a hospital when the wreck occurred. It’s not known if the vehicle had its emergency lights and sirens operating at the time of the crash.

All three people inside the Polk County Fire Rescue ambulance and the truck driver were taken to hospitals. Officials said a paramedic and the patient being transported were critically injured. The drivers of the vehicles are expected to make full recoveries.
The cause of the wreck is under investigation.
