ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla – A fiery crash caused major headaches Sunday on Interstate 95 in Florida.
All lanes of Interstate 95 from State Road 206 to State Road 207 in St. Johns County reopened after a fiery traffic crash shut down the interstate for hours, News 6 partner WJXT-TV reported.
St. Johns County Fire Rescue responded around 3:15 p.m. to the two-vehicle crash that caused a semi truck to become engulfed in flames.
The hazmat team worked to clean up the diesel spill from the semi-truck.
As of 3:36 p.m., the fire was extinguished, but all lanes remained blocked.
One person was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition, SJCFR said.
Traffic was at a complete standstill as travelers could be seen standing alongside the highway, waiting for the crash to be cleared.
All northbound and southbound lanes reopened just before 10 p.m.
