Brush fire, downed power lines lead to lane closure on SR-44 in Lake County, sheriff’s office says

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Westbound State Road 44 was temporarily shut down between Eustis and DeLand early Sunday due to a large brush fire and downed power lines, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The lane was closed near Royal Trails Road, the sheriff’s office said at 6:20 a.m. on social media. The sheriff’s office said emergency personnel were already at the scene to resolve the issues, adding drivers should plan accordingly.

News 6 went to the scene and observed SECO crews working to restore the power lines, as well as that traffic appeared to be moving again before 9 a.m.

A spokesperson for the county told News 6 in a statement that the cause of the brush fire was still unknown at the time of this writing.
