Depression opens on I-4 in Polk County, creating traffic headaches

Some lanes of I-4 west reopen in Haines City

HAINES CITY, Fla. – A depression opened on Interstate 4 in Polk County, causing major traffic issues.

The hole opened Thursday night on I-4 west in Haines City, prompting all westbound lanes to be closed from exit 55 in Haines City to exit 58.

One lane was reopened about an hour later, and at least a second lane was open to traffic Friday morning.

Officials have not released any other details, including what caused the depression or the types of repairs that were made to the roadway.
