MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 40-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Marion County on Sunday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 12:20 p.m. at NE 36th Ave. Road and NE 40th Ave. Road.

According to a crash report, an SUV was traveling north on NE 36th Ave. Road. The SUV then came to a stop at a stop sign at the intersection of NE 36th Ave. Road and NE 40th Ave. Road.
At the same time, a pickup truck was traveling north, behind the SUV. Troopers said the truck failed to stop at the stop sign and struck the back of the SUV.
According to the report, the “force from the impact propelled” the SUV across the intersection. The SUV then overturned and came to a final rest in the road, north of the initial crash area.
Troopers said the pickup truck came to a final rest on the northeast corner of the intersection.
The driver of the SUV, identified as a 40-year-old Ocala woman was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to the report.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as a 68-year-old Ocala man, suffered serious injuries, troopers said. A passenger in the truck, identified as a 60-year-old Ocala woman, suffered minor injuries.
