Trooper Steve on Patrol: Orlando police officer skates for a cause

Kia Center to host Guns N’ Hoses charity hockey

ORLANDO, Fla – On this edition of Trooper Steve on Patrol, I had the opportunity to spend time with Orlando Police Department Officer Keith Weisman, a career law enforcement officer with a passion that goes beyond the badge.

While many know Officer Weisman for his service to the community, what you may not know is his love for recreational hockey, a passion that has helped connect him to something much bigger.

That connection comes to life through the annual Guns N’ Hoses charity hockey event, where law enforcement officers and firefighters trade their uniforms for jerseys and hit the ice, all in the name of giving back.

This event isn’t just about competition. It’s about camaraderie, community and raising money for local charities that directly impact Central Florida families.

Officer Weisman, like many who participate, sees it as an extension of service — just in a different arena.

The event is set for Friday at the Kia Center in Orlando, and it’s shaping up to be a full night of action and purpose. One ticket gets you access to not just one, but two Guns and Hoses matchups, followed by a game featuring the Orlando Solar Bears.

It’s a unique opportunity for the community to come out, support their local heroes and enjoy an exciting night of hockey — all while contributing to meaningful causes.

Spending time with Officer Weisman reminded me that the men and women behind the badge are more than what you see on the job. They bring passion, personality and heart into everything they do — whether that’s protecting our streets or stepping onto the ice for a great cause.

Take a look at the full stream to see how this all comes together and maybe I’ll see you out there at the rink.
