ORLANDO, Fla. – On today’s Trooper Steve on Patrol, we’re keeping it simple — but don’t let that fool you. Sometimes it’s the smallest things behind the wheel that matter the most.
I’ll be honest with you, these are the kinds of reminders we all need every now and then. I’m talking about properly wearing your seatbelt, not tucked behind you, not loose across your shoulder — but worn the way it’s designed to actually protect you. It sounds basic, but you’d be surprised how often it’s done wrong.
Then there are those little details that can turn into big headaches, like your registration sticker. In Florida, that sticker belongs on the upper right corner of your license plate. Seems minor, right? Until you get stopped for it.

Out on patrol, I see it all the time, things that aren’t necessarily reckless or dangerous on the surface, but they add up. And more importantly, they’re easy fixes.
That’s really what today is about. Not calling anyone out, just calling attention to the things we tend to overlook in our day-to-day driving. Because when you tighten up the basics, everything else on the road gets a little bit safer.
So take a minute, give your vehicle a quick once-over, and make sure you’re good to go. And if you want to ride along and catch a few more reminders like this, join me on today’s Trooper Steve on Patrol.
