‘Transformational project’: Cocoa secures $56 million federal grant for Brightline station

Brightline could be expanding service to the Space Coast as soon as 2030, after the city of Cocoa secured a $56.48 million federal grant for a rail station in the city. While Cocoa moves closer to bringing Brightline to the city, the company is moving closer to possible financial disaster. In recent months, both Standard & Poor’s and Fitch downgraded Brightline’s debt ratings, meaning it is growing more likely that Brightline could default on its debts.
