Above-average temperatures and high humidity for the weekend

Timeline for few thunderstorms in Central Florida will be after 2 p.m. Sunday

ORLANDO, Fla. – Heat will be the big story this weekend as temperatures rise to well above average numbers, News 6 meteorologist Samara Cokinos said.

Overnight clouds will linger overhead, and lows will be in the low 70s Saturday night.

"We are pinpointing the approach of a big storm system that will mainly bring energy and storms to the north of Central Florida for Sunday," News 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said.

Bridges said the storm system has brought severe weather, even tornadoes, to areas of Mississippi Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas. The system is moving closer to Alabama and eventually Georgia, as well as the Florida Panhandle.

"We will see a 40% coverage of afternoon showers with a couple of them, but with thunderstorms on Sunday," Bridges said. "Even the Augusta national in Augusta, Georgia, is starting play at the Masters Tournament early tomorrow because of the approach of this storm system. They will see a 60% coverage of storms mainly after 2 p.m."

The timeline for a few thunderstorms in Central Florida will be after 2 p.m., as well.

"Again, we will not see a big risk of severe weather, but expect an increased chance for rain and a few thunderstorms," Bridges said.

Expect a high temperature of 89 degrees. The Central Florida area reached a high temperature of 92 degrees Saturday, which is the hottest the area has been since Oct. 17, when the area reached 92 degrees.

Central Florida will only see a 10% coverage of rain, mainly in the very early-morning hours Monday, with a high of 83 degrees by Monday afternoon.

Expect highs in the mid- and upper 80s for Tuesday and Wednesday, with rain chances returning by Thursday at 40%.
