Blast of cold set to arrive in Central Florida. Here’s when

Temperatures to drop during the weekend

ORLANDO, Fla. – A weak disturbance is crossing over south-central Florida Thursday morning, dragging in widespread light-to-moderate rain overhead.

The low will quickly track out into the Atlantic later this afternoon through sunset. Along this low, most of the rain will exit with it, making way for a trailing cold front to accelerate through the state by Thursday night and early Friday morning.

Forecast shows rain likely for all of the area through the morning, followed by gradual clearing from NW to SE through the afternoon. Highs Thursday afternoon will remain in the low- to mid-60s with lows into the evening ranging from the upper 40s for northern zones to the mid 50s for the southern half.

Once the front clears the area early Friday, the big weather story will be the chilly temperatures to end 2023!

This will be the time to break out the new sweaters you got for the holidays as temperatures will remain chilly day and night!

Highs on Friday and Saturday will struggle to warm into the 60s both afternoons, with lows ranging from the mid-30s to mid-40s.

Places generally north of the Leesburg to Deltona line will also have a 30-50% chance of seeing patchy frost on Sunday morning. It may be the time to start thinking about protecting the more sensitive tropical plants by covering them or bringing them indoors.

Under all that cold sunshine, it will remain breezy as well with northwest winds gusting up to 20 miles per hour Friday, but gradually weakening through the weekend.
