Near-record warmth likely to close out month

ORLANDO, Fla. – Sick of the chill and wild temperature swings? If you answered yes, there is good news.

After the blast of Arctic air that moves into Florida for the weekend, a major pattern change is coming. The rest of winter looks to remain cloudy and wet more often than not but in the short term, a surge of warm air is coming to the Sunshine State.

The start of next work week will still be cool, however Florida will start its transition out of the chill.

By Tuesday and Wednesday, afternoon high temperatures will be flirting with the 80s.

By the end of the work week, most of Central Florida will surge into record territory in the temperature department. Highs Thursday and Friday will make a run for the mid-80s.

The record in Orlando for Thursday is 86 degrees set just last year. For Friday, the record is 87.

The much-above normal temperatures look to stick around through the end of January.
