ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A confirmed tornado that damaged homes Thursday in St. Johns County subdivisions was captured on video (see below), News 6 partner WJXT-TV reported.

Viewer Joseph Raisor was able to safely record video of the tornado in the Trailmark subdivision off Pacetti Road, just south of World Golf Village.

WJXT-TV also received reports of damage in the Samara Lakes subdivision, also off Pacetti Road.

One minor injury was reported, St. Johns County Fire Rescue said.

“In Samara Lakes and that was my first experience being that close to a tornado and it sounded just like they say it does — freight train coming through. Absolutely nuts,” Jamie Moody wrote in a comment on News4Jax.com.

The National Weather Service said there was visual confirmation of the tornado. A survey team was headed to the area to determine the path, intensity, length and width of the tornado.

Several weather alerts, including a tornado watch, were issued just south of St. Johns County in Central Florida, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries in the Orlando area.

Cooler weather is expected behind the front that brought storms to Florida.

In Flagler County, Flagler Beach police say Thursday’s torrential rain washed out a portion of A1A, prompting a temporary lane closure as work crews responded to the damage.
