Torrential rain washes out SR-A1A in Flagler Beach

Traffic closed to single lane near Volusia County line

FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. – A portion of State Road A1A in Flagler Beach was partially closed Thursday after torrential rains caused a washout, according to police.

Traffic on S.R. A1A (South Ocean Shore Boulevard) near the Volusia County line has been temporarily closed to a single lane, the police department said on social media.

The Florida Department of Transportation has been notified and work crews were en route at the time of this report, the post states. Drivers were encouraged to find alternate routes.

Police said in the post that the impacted area of A1A is where FDOT recently began constructing a buried seawall for long-term protection from South Central Avenue to north of High Bridge Road in Volusia County.
