Hottest day yet? Florida heat wave not letting up

Orlando heat index forecast to hit 102 degrees

ORLANDO, Fla. – If you’ve been sweating just walking to your car lately, you’re not alone.

The heat is on—and it’s sticking around Central Florida for the next few days.

While most of the week will be dry, there are a few chances for rain and storms, especially later in the week.

Tuesday is on track to being the hottest day of the year so far, with highs rebounding into the mid-90s inland and the low 90s along the coast. Thanks to the humidity, it will feel even hotter, up to 105 degrees in some spots.

With a little added moisture around, sea breeze interaction will allow for a few isolated storms (10-20%) to develop between I-4 and I-95.

Expect conditions to stay hot through the rest of the week, with rain chances slowly creeping back into the forecast.

Thursday brings our best chance of rain this week (30-50%) as a weak front approaches. Embedded in the downpours could be some strong storms producing gusty winds and lightning.

Rain Chances - Thursday

Looking ahead to Friday and the weekend, the front lingers and slowly shifts around, meaning we’ll hold onto slight rain chances each day with temperatures a few degrees above normal -- in the upper 80s to low 90s.

Be safe out there!
