ORLANDO, Fla. – The heat is on in Florida as “feels-like” temperatures soar to 100-105 degrees Wednesday afternoon across Central Florida.
This sweltering heat is due to a lingering high over the Gulf.
Daytime highs are expected to remain well above average, in the mid-90s inland to the low 90s along the coast, where the usual cooling effect of sea breezes is limited.
The weather isn’t just about the heat this week, however.
A cold front is slowly moving toward Central Florida, increasing the chance of rain on Thursday.
A 40-60% chance of rain and storms exists from 2-8 p.m. Thursday and they might linger into the late evening, so keep your umbrellas handy.
Hurricane season countdown
As we sweat through this heat, it’s also time to start thinking about hurricane season.
With just 10 days until the official start of the Atlantic hurricane season, no new tropical development is expected in the next couple of days.
