ORLANDO, Fla. – Planning to get outdoors for Memorial Day? Expect a classic summer setup across much of Florida, with daytime highs in the low 90s.
Don’t let the sunshine fool you early in the day. Showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop by the afternoon, most likely west of I-95.
Storms may linger until sunset and could produce locally heavy rain, isolated flooding and dangerous lightning.
This weather pattern is expected to repeat daily through much of the week.
Beach forecast
If you’re planning on enjoying the sun and sand this Memorial Day, beware of a moderate rip current risk.
As storms are expected to pop up each afternoon, keep an eye on the sky and consider shifting any outdoor activities to earlier in the day if you can.

Saharan dust suppressing tropical development
The official start of the Atlantic hurricane season is just five days away.
Right now, the National Hurricane Center isn’t highlighting any potential tropical development in the Atlantic.
There is a lot of Saharan dust over the Atlantic, which is typical for this time of year.
The dust is expected to help limit tropical disturbances for now, keeping hurricane worries at bay at least for a little while longer.
