ORLANDO, Fla. – The National Hurricane Center increased chances for tropical development around Florida.

There is now a medium, 40% chance, for tropical development on either side of Florida over the next seven days.

It is important to note that even if this does become a named storm, significant development is not expected.

Model guidance continues to suggest if tropical development occurs it will be on the Atlantic side.

European ensembles. More than half of the 51 members of the European ensembles suggest a tropical depression is possible off the Florida Atlantic coast over the holiday weekend.

A cold front will stall across the Deep South late in the week and over the holiday weekend.

Along this front, an area of low pressure could develop.

This is a very common setup for tropical development in early July.

Regardless, with the front stalled north of Florida, expect waves of rain, some heavy, to slide across Central Florida through the holiday weekend.

Future clouds and rain

The heaviest rain at this time looks to focus on South Florida late in the week and through the weekend.
