ORLANDO, Fla. – Forecasters are monitoring an area where a low is expected to develop as a front stalls near Florida.
While environmental conditions are slightly conducive for development, as of early Thursday the system has a 30% chance of developing in the next 48 hours and a 60% chance over the next seven days.
If it does strengthen, it could become a tropical or subtropical depression as it drifts north or northeast early next week.
If it gets a name, it will be called Chantal.
Whether or not it develops, moisture from this same system will be impacting the Central Florida forecast for the holiday weekend.
Expect higher than normal rain coverage Thursday through Saturday.
