ORLANDO, Fla. – Tropical Storm Chantal has strengthened as it continues north toward the Carolinas.
As of 11 p.m., maximum sustained winds are at 50 mph and it is moving North at 8 mph.
Chantal is spinning about 65 miles east of Charleston, South Carolina, and is on the move.
A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect from South Santee River, SC, to Surf City, NC.
The storm is expected to begin moving north-northwest overnight, then turn northeast by Sunday night. On its current path, Chantal’s center is forecast to make landfall along the South Carolina coast Sunday morning.
