Mugginess persists as rain chances dip in Central Florida. Here’s how hot it will feel

Heat index could reach 105 degrees in Orlando area

ORLANDO, Fla. – A gradual shift in weather patterns is expected across Florida as the Atlantic high expands over the area.

The system will help reduce the chances of rain Monday for much of the area, with odds at 30-40%.

As the storms develop in the afternoon, they will likely move offshore in the evening, although some activity could persist over local waters overnight.

Temperatures will remain warm and humid, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s across east-Central Florida. The lingering moisture will make it feel hotter, with heat indices potentially reaching 100 to 105 degrees in some areas.

Overnight lows will be in the low to mid-70s, with continued muggy conditions.

Looking ahead, the high-pressure ridge will gradually shift north, settling over Central Florida by midweek, allowing for lighter winds and an inland push of the sea breeze, which could bring increased chances of afternoon storms at 40-50%.

Models suggest that a wave of moisture may approach the area by Thursday, which would likely lead to increased storm activity heading into the weekend, with rain chances rising to 60-70%.

Overall, temperatures will remain close to seasonal norms, but the combination of heat and humidity will continue to make it feel rather uncomfortable.
