ORLANDO, Fla. – Get ready for soggy afternoons across Central Florida.
You can expect rain chances to reach 80% to 90% over the coming days, with widespread storms and showers driven by incoming tropical moisture. Most areas are forecast to see downpours, especially during the afternoon and evening hours, and some locations could tally up 1 to 3 inches of rain through Monday night.
There’s a marginal risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe weather today throughout nearly all Central Florida counties. One or two storms may turn strong to severe, with the main concerns being heavy rainfall, plenty of lightning, small hail, and wind gusts up to 60 mph. The tornado risk for Sunday is considered very low.
Even without the storms, Central Florida is dealing with hot and muggy conditions.
Temperatures are forecast to climb into the lower to middle 90s today, with the heat index soaring as high as 107 degrees due to high humidity. That means it won’t just be hot – it’ll feel downright sweltering.
Don’t forget water, shade and regular breaks if you’re spending time outside during peak heat.
The hourly forecast for Orlando shows 86 degrees by 10 a.m. (feeling like 99), 90 degrees by noon (feeling like 101) and afternoon numbers in the low to mid-90s, with the heat index staying in the triple digits much of the day.
Scattered rain and storms are expected to begin developing after 1 p.m. and become widespread through the day. It’s expected to get heavy in many locations. Minor flooding is possible, especially in low-lying or poorly drained spots. While not everyone will see flooding, those areas typically at risk should be extra cautious.

While development odds remain small, tropical moisture is expected to persist and keep rain chances high for Central Florida throughout the week.
Expect temperatures to remain steady in the lower 90s Monday through Wednesday, with rain chances near 90 percent. By late week, highs will settle back into the upper 80s with rain chances still elevated around 70%.
