ORLANDO, Fla. – A weak but persistent area of low pressure near Florida’s east coast is drawing attention along the Gulf as chances for tropical development increase.
The National Hurricane Center on Monday tagged the area as Invest 93L, so the first hurricane models will run later in the day.
The storm is organizing and if it takes advantage of the warm Gulf Stream, it could become a tropical depression or storm prior to coming ashore in Florida.
Regardless, impacts to Central Florida will remain unchanged.
As of Monday afternoon, the NHC gives the system a 20% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within 48 hours and a 30% chance over the next seven days.
