ORLANDO, Fla. – It’s time to get ready for a change: daily rain chances are taking a step back, but Central Florida is set to heat up.
After a round of scattered storms and muggy afternoons, the next few days are forecast to be noticeably drier and hotter, especially as the weekend approaches.
Temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 90s across much of Central Florida this weekend. The heat index could make it feel even hotter, with some locations feeling like they’re in the triple digits during peak afternoon hours.
But for Thursday, the sea breeze pattern still brings the chance for hit-or-miss rain and storms, especially along the I-4 corridor and into Osceola County, particularly in the afternoon and early evening.
Thursday still carries up to a 60-70 percent chance for rain in certain areas.
Afternoon highs are expected to warm into the low 90s across inland cities and upper 80s along the coastline.
The tropics have been getting attention this week, but the latest updates show less concern for Central Florida.
The National Hurricane Center has dropped the odds to a 30% chance of development over the next two to seven days. Most of the rain associated with this system is impacting areas well to the west, including parts of southeast Louisiana.
As of now, there are no tropical concerns for Central Florida.
