ORLANDO, Fla. – Dangerous heat continues to bake Central Florida, and it’s not going away anytime soon.
Wednesday’s temperatures in the Orlando area will soar once again into the mid- to upper 90s.
But it’s the combination of heat and humidity that will make conditions feel even worse. Heat index values are expected to reach 108-112 degrees in the afternoon.
A Heat Advisory remains in effect from noon to 7 p.m. for the entire region.
It’s another day where prolonged time outdoors can be dangerous, especially for vulnerable groups like the elderly, children and those working outside. Stay hydrated and take frequent cooling breaks.
As moisture levels continue to rise, so do the chances for some much-needed rain. While not everyone will see storms, there’s about a 30–50% chance you’ll get hit with inland scattered showers or thunderstorms, particularly in the late afternoon and early evening.
Storms are most likely to form along the sea breeze as it pushes inland. Some activity could drift back toward the coast into the evening hours.
Some of the stronger storms could pack frequent lightning, gusty winds up to 55 mph and torrential downpours.
Weekend Forecast
This weekend, a front is expected to move into north Florida and linger nearby, increasing our daily rain chances to 50–70%. That’s good news in terms of heat relief, but highs will still hover in the low to mid-90s, with heat index values staying in the triple digits.
