ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Some ominous clouds moved over the Ormond Beach area on Thursday.
News 6 photojournalist Joel Oyola snapped photos of a shelf cloud.
It could also be seen looming large on the News 6 Daytona Beach camera.
Shelf cloud in Ormond Beach. (Copyright 2024 by WKMG ClickOrlando - All rights reserved.) Shelf clouds tend to precede heavy rain and wind, and they form when warm air is forced up and over cooler air. The air condenses and forms the low-hanging, jagged clouds like the ones in the pictures.
