Dry air keeps Central Florida comfortable, but rain chances rise next week

A look at low humidity, weekend weather, and tropical updates

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida is enjoying a break from the mugginess this weekend thanks to a surge of dry air high above. This dry pattern is keeping both humidity and rain chances low across the region.

Rain chances are holding in the 10% to 20% range Saturday and Sunday. Expect plenty of sunshine with scattered clouds from morning into the afternoon.

Most areas stay dry, though a few isolated light showers may pop up as the afternoon rolls around. Daytime highs are expected to reach the upper 80s and lower 90s.

Lingering light showers are possible around sunset, with a few more along the coast in Flagler and Volusia counties overnight. Overall, Saturday looks set to be an overall ”comfy” day.

Rain and humidity expected to increase next week

After this stretch of pleasant weather, conditions are expected to shift as the work week begins. An uptick in moisture is on the way, and with it, rain chances will climb.

Starting Monday and Tuesday, daily rain chances are forecast to reach about 40%. Temperatures are expected to rise into the lower 90s throughout next week, with forecast highs of 91 to 94 degrees and nighttime lows in the mid 70s.

The return of higher humidity may bring a more summer-like feel. Monday also marks the first day of fall, but the weather is expected to stay warm and potentially wet across Central Florida.

Tropical outlook: Watching the Atlantic for new development

Tropical Storm Gabrielle is currently active and being tracked, though the latest outlook doesn’t indicate a threat to Central Florida.

Meanwhile, the National Hurricane Center is monitoring an unorganized tropical wave over the eastern Atlantic. This system has a 20% chance of developing over the next several days, according to the NHC’s forecast.
