Tropical development odds on the rise for tropical wave

Low chance of formation in 48 hours, growing 40% chance over 7 days

ORLANDO, Fla. – As of 8 a.m. Sunday, the National Hurricane Center has raised development odds for a tropical wave, keeping chances at 0% in the next two days, but increasing to 40% over the next seven days.

Atmospheric conditions could become more favorable in a day or so, allowing for slow development and possibly a weak tropical depression later this week.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Gabrielle continues spinning over the open Atlantic and is expected to strengthen into a hurricane by Sunday afternoon.
