Mostly dry in Central Florida, but unsettled weather on the way. Here’s what to expect

Rainy weekend on tap in Orlando area

ORLANDO, Fla. – After a dry Wednesday, expect several days of unsettled weather to return for Central Florida.

Wednesday

The influence from Hurricane Imelda begins to fade as the system pulls further northeast.

Drier air will lower rain chances across the interior with coverage at 20-30%.

Expect highs in the mid- to upper 80s, with overnight lows in the low to mid-70s.

Thursday-Weekend

Looking ahead from Thursday through early next week, the pattern turns wetter. Onshore winds will pull in deep tropical moisture, boosting rain chances to 50-60% Thursday before increasing to 60–70% Friday through Tuesday.

Storm intensity should stay low due to limited instability, but the flooding risk will grow, particularly near the coast, where showers may “train” over the same spots for several days.

Daytime highs will trend slightly below normal in the low to mid-80s, with lows in the low to mid-70s.

Beach & Marine Hazards

Along the coast, conditions will be hazardous through at least Saturday. A combination of strong onshore winds and long-period swells from distant hurricanes Humberto and Imelda will keep the surf dangerous and unpredictable.

Expect breaking waves of 5 to 8 feet, a high risk of rip currents and ongoing beach erosion.

Boaters and swimmers alike should use extreme caution, as rough seas and gusty winds will continue over the Atlantic waters. Even as rain lets up at times, the ocean remains unsafe.
