ORLANDO, Fla. – As of 8 p.m. Sunday, the latest outlook from the National Hurricane Center highlights a tropical wave located several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands, now designated Invest 95L.
The system has a 50% chance of development over the next two days and a 70% chance through the next seven days.
Environmental conditions look favorable for gradual strengthening, and a tropical depression is likely to form this week as it moves westward across the central Atlantic.

Long-range models suggest a possible northward curve later on, though there’s still uncertainty about how soon that turn may occur.
Meanwhile, another weak wave over the northern Gulf has a 0% chance of tropical development. It isn’t expected to organize, but it could bring locally heavy rainfall to parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama in the coming days.
