SANFORD, Fla. – Seminole and Lake counties on Monday opened sandbag sites after up to nearly 20 inches of rain fell in portions of Central Florida.
The Seminole County Emergency Management said it was monitoring elevated water levels on the St. Johns River.
Some portions of Central Florida saw excessive rain on Sunday, with Eustis receiving over 19 inches.
Another 2-4 inches of rain are possible Monday across the region.

“Out of an abundance of caution, Seminole County has opened the following sandbag sites,” the county said.
Old Geneva Volunteer Fire Station
- 215 2nd St. in Geneva
- 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Unstaffed, bring your own shovels
Sanford Public Works
- 800 W. Fulton St. in Sanford
- 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Unstaffed, bring your own shovels
Lake County opened five sandbag sites at 11 a.m. Monday. The sites will be open until 7 p.m. but will close earlier if the weather deteriorates.
While the sites listed below will be staffed, residents should bring their own shovels and plan to fill their own bags. Each household will be limited to 10 bags.

- Fire Station 10 at 23023 FL-40 in Astor
Meanwhile, a massive cooldown is headed to Central Florida, with wake-up temperatures on Friday expected to dip into the 40s and 50s.
