ORLANDO, Fla. – Get ready, Central Florida — change is in the air.
A cold front is moving in from the north and west on Sunday, and it’s expected to bring a sharp drop in temperatures across the region overnight Sunday into Monday.
Morning travelers should also be cautious, as patchy, dense fog developed early Sunday across the region. Visibility dropped below a quarter of a mile in some places, so extra caution and slower speeds are a good idea before the sun burns it off.
Afternoon highs are expected to warm into the 70s across the region on Sunday with winds slowly picking up. There is a low chance for a stray shower or two as the cold front moves through.

Clouds are set to increase through the afternoon before the cold air arrives, making it a good day to grab that jacket if you plan to be out late.
Monday morning is forecast to start off especially chilly, with lows dropping in the 40s but feeling like the 30s in a few spots.
That’s a marked difference from the typical highs near 73 to 74 degrees for this time in December.
Wind and high-surf advisories in effect
This gusty transition isn’t just about cooler air. Windy conditions are expected to begin Sunday night and stick around through Monday morning. Winds from the north could reach 20 to 25 mph, with gusts topping out near 40 mph in some areas.
For anyone near the coast, be sure to look out for a high surf advisory: waves are forecast to build to between 7 and 10 feet, raising the risk for beach erosion and making the waves dangerous for swimmers and surfers.
If you’re not a fan of the colder weather, there’s good news, this chill won’t stick around for long. A warming trend is forecast to return by midweek, lifting highs back into the 70s and even near 80 degrees by next weekend.
Monday and Tuesday will remain below average, but by Friday and Saturday, it’s expected to feel more like typical Central-Florida winter — mild and pleasant.
