Florida freeze: How long temperatures will stay below freezing

Hard freeze likely Saturday night into Sunday

ORLANDO, Fla. – Freezing conditions will arrive at different times across the region on Saturday, but once they set in, they’ll linger well into Sunday morning.

Read on for a county-by-county list:

  • Sumter County: Temperatures fall below freezing after 5 p.m. Saturday and remain there for 12–17 hours.
Coleman
  • Volusia County (Daytona Beach): Temperatures drop to near freezing around 10 p.m. Saturday, staying below freezing for 10–12 hours.
Daytona Beach
  • Osceola County (Kissimmee): Freezing temperatures arrive after midnight and persist for 8–10 hours.
Kissimmee
  • Lake County (Leesburg): Temperatures fall below freezing after 10 p.m., lasting 10–12 hours.
Leesburg
  • Brevard County (Melbourne): Freezing conditions begin after midnight and continue for 6–8 hours.
Melbourne
  • Marion County (Ocala): Temperatures drop below freezing after 10 p.m. Saturday and remain there for 12–15 hours.
Ocala
  • Orange County (Orlando): Freezing temperatures arrive after midnight, holding for 8–10 hours into Sunday morning.
Orlando
  • Seminole County (Sanford): Temperatures fall below freezing after 10 p.m., remaining there for 10–12 hours.

Sunday morning will be the coldest, but the chill won’t be done just yet. Another cold start is expected Monday morning, not quite as severe as Sunday but still below freezing in many areas. It won’t be until Tuesday morning that Orlando finally wakes up to temperatures above freezing again.
