Hottest weekend of 2026: Here’s when relief from the heat arrives

Back-to-back days in the 90s

ORLANDO, Fla. – A summerlike warmup is taking over this weekend in Central Florida, with temperatures climbing close to 90 degrees in many spots before a cold front brings a cooldown early next week.

Weekend

High pressure remains the main weather feature over Florida through the weekend, helping to keep skies mostly sunny and the air fairly dry. This combination will allow temperatures to climb well into the 80s, with some areas nearing 90 degrees.

The heat builds even more into the weekend, with a likely chance of 90+ degree days both Saturday and Sunday.

While a few more clouds develop, dry air in the upper levels will keep rain chances very low. The sea breeze will help keep coastal areas a bit cooler.

With the increasing heat, it is important to stay hydrated and take breaks if spending extended time outdoors.

Next week changes

Changes arrive late Sunday into Monday as a cold front approaches and moves through the area. A few showers (10-20%) will be possible on Monday, mainly from the Cape southward, but rainfall looks light overall.

Winds will turn northerly overnight Sunday, becoming breezy to gusty starting Monday morning.

With the breeze being kicked up again, beach conditions are expected to become more dangerous through the first half of the week with a high risk of rip currents.

By Tuesday, cooler air settles in. Highs by Tuesday and Wednesday will fall below normal, with highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees.
