Steamy, stormy days ahead as heat index in Central Florida nears 100 degrees by holiday weekend

Sea breeze storms favor inland storms daily

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida’s summerlike weather pattern continues Wednesday with more heat, humidity, and inland scattered afternoon storm chances.

WEDNESDAY

Temperatures will once again climb into the upper 80s and low 90s this afternoon under a mix of sun and clouds. East to southeast winds will increase behind the sea breeze, with gusts near 20 mph possible along the coast.

Most coastal communities will stay dry for much of the day, with a better chance for afternoon storms developing inland along the sea breeze.

THIS WEEK

The overall weather pattern changes very little through the next several days. Daily sea breeze-driven storms are expected each afternoon and evening, mainly across the interior and western half of the area. Rain coverage remains scattered, with coverage increasing to a 40-50% chance.

Heat and humidity will continue to build into the weekend. High temperatures remain near 90 degrees each afternoon.

By the Memorial Day weekend, heat index values are expected to climb into the upper 90s and lower 100s across parts of Central Florida.
