ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida’s summerlike weather pattern continues through Memorial Day weekend with hot afternoons, muggy nights, and daily chances for scattered inland storms.
FRIDAY
Expect a mix of sun and clouds with highs climbing into the upper 80s and low 90s. Coastal communities may see a few quick passing showers this morning, but the better chance for storms will develop inland later this afternoon (20-30%).
HOLIDAY WEEKEND
The overall setup remains fairly unchanged for Memorial Day weekend, with high pressure parked off the East Coast keeping a steady east to southeast breeze flowing into Florida. That pattern will continue to push most of the rain and storm activity inland during the afternoon and evening hours, with coverage of 40-50%.
While widespread severe weather is not expected, some storms may still produce wind gusts up to 40 to 45 mph and localized rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches in a short amount of time.
Temperatures remain near to slightly above average through the holiday weekend, with highs near 90. But with high humidity levels, the feels-like temperatures could approach the 100-degree mark.
NEXT WEEK
Looking ahead to next week, forecast models continue to hint at a wetter and more unsettled weather pattern developing by the middle to end of the week as deeper tropical moisture moves toward Florida. Confidence is still low on exact details, but rain and storm coverage could increase significantly during the final days of May and early June.
