Rare June cold front brings cooler temps, lower humidity to Central Florida

Overnight lows dipping into the 60s

ORLANDO, Fla. – After days of summerlike heat and humidity, a rare early June cold front is moving through Central Florida on Wednesday, delivering cooler temperatures, lower humidity, and a noticeable change in the air.

WEDNESDAY

Behind the front, northeast winds will kick up, with sustained speeds of 15 to 20 mph and occasional gusts topping 25 mph, especially along and north of the Orlando metro and near the coast.

The biggest difference will be the temperatures.

Afternoon highs will only reach the low 80s across much of Central Florida, running about 7 to 10 degrees below normal for early June. Even more noticeable will be the drop in humidity, with overnight temperatures falling into the 60s inland and low 70s along the coast.

THURSDAY & FRIDAY

The cooler, drier pattern sticks around through Thursday, with plenty of dry time expected across most of the region. A few isolated coastal showers cannot be ruled out, mainly south of Melbourne, but widespread rain is not anticipated.

Temperatures will gradually begin warming again on Friday and through the weekend. By Saturday, many inland communities will once again approach 90 degrees, while coastal areas stay slightly cooler thanks to the afternoon sea breeze.

WEEKEND

The comfortable stretch won’t last long.

Moisture begins increasing again by late weekend, with rain chances slowly climbing into next week. Temperatures will also trend warmer, with highs returning to the upper 80s and lower 90s and humidity levels rising once again.
