ORLANDO, Fla. – Lingering moisture over Central Florida spells for a soggy start to the work week. But our pattern does begin to correct itself to “typical” as the week rolls on.
Tonight
Isolated showers are possible Sunday evening after sunset until around 9-10pm. Mostly dry conditions prevail overnight with the exception of a few rogue showers, primarily north near Marion County. Lows will drop down to the mid 70s with partly cloudy skies.
Monday
As our atmosphere holds on to lingering moisture and a southwest wind, a good round of afternoon storms is once again in store for Central Florida. The difference being coverage is more scattered in nature than the last few days. Spotty showers will begin to develop along the I-75 corridor around lunchtime. Our southwest winds will push them towards I-4 by mid-afternoon, 2-3pm, then favoring areas near I-95 and the beaches just before the evening commute. Scattered showers will persist across Central Florida until sunset, then our skies will calm down. Highs will hit the low 90s.
Week Ahead
Rain chances will slowly decline and revert back to “normal” as our winds finally shift out of the east by mid week with a building ridge of high pressure in the mid levels of our atmosphere. This will help to establish our normal sea breeze pattern starting on Wednesday, meaning afternoon storms will primarily favor areas west of I-4 and push westward from there. By the end of the week and into the upcoming weekend, we will watch a tropical wave entering the Bahamas to our east. As this wave pushes towards Florida late Friday, moisture will begin to increase over our area for the weekend. Rain chances, in turn, will increase for the weekend ahead.
