ORLANDO, Fla. – The Atlantic is beginning to emerge from its hibernation as a conga line of tropical waves are moving off of the West African coastline. The National Hurricane Center is eyeing two for possible development next week.
The first wave is currently moving westward over the main development region of the Atlantic. As it continues to move westward, it has a low chance of development. It has a plethora of hurdles to inhibit organization including Saharan Dust, high wind shear, and slightly cooler-than-normal ocean temperatures.
The second wave the NHC is watching still has yet to depart into the Atlantic waters. Once it does early next week, environmental conditions will be a little more conducive for development as it tracks to the west. This wave currently has a medium chance of development into at least a Tropical Depression next week.
