Rain chances remain elevated for rest of the week

High heat remains before cooling afternoon Thunderstorms.

Showers and storms develop near I-4 just after noon and scatter across Central Florida for the second half of Thursday.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Rain chances remain elevated for the rest of the week as an upper level low remains just to our west, keeping moisture and instability around.

Thursday

Heat advisories have already been issued for Marion and Flagler counties for Thursday, all other counties likely to follow suit early tomorrow morning, as high temperatures will once again climb into the mid-upper 90s with heat indices at 108-112ºF. This will be the fuel to get storms to fire up for the second half of the day. Showers and thunderstorms will begin to develop as the east and west coast sea breezes collide near I-4 just after lunchtime. These storms will continue to fan out around Central Florida through the afternoon and into the evening commute. Showers will begin to fade and dissipate around 8pm.

Heading towards the weekend

Rain chances remain higher than normal as moisture and instability remain as the upper level low to our west sticks around and helps to drag a trough further to the south. This will bring a weak cold front into northern portions of the state by Saturday. This will keep moisture and instability around to keep rain chances going to start the weekend. Highs will remain on the high and steamy side in the mid 90s with heat indices flirting with heat advisory levels.
