ORLANDO, Fla. – The National Hurricane Center on Thursday has officially started issuing its daily tropical weather outlooks, highlighting areas that have the potential for development.
While hurricane season officially runs from June 1 to Nov. 30, there have been times where storms have formed before the official start of the season.
According the NOAA’s records since 1851, there have been 43 storms that developed preseason, averaging about one per year.
WHAT ARE THESE OUTLOOKS?
The daily outlooks provide crucial information about storm development over tropical waters in the Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf. The daily updates highlight if those areas could see additional tropical activity in the next five to seven days.

Thursday’s update shows no new development expected in the next seven days.
The NHC will be releasing its 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season outlook on May 22.
