Disorganized wave in the Atlantic as Gabrielle expected to become hurricane

Watching the Atlantic, but no Florida or Gulf concerns

ORLANDO, Fla. – As of 8 a.m. Saturday, the National Hurricane Center is monitoring a disorganized tropical wave over the eastern Atlantic and giving it a low chance of development.

Slow organization is possible in the coming days as the system tracks west-northwest across the central Atlantic. Development odds are 0% over the next 48 hours and 20% over the next seven days.

Meanwhile, as of 5 a.m., Tropical Storm Gabrielle continues spinning over the open Atlantic. It is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane by Sunday and pass east of Bermuda late Sunday into Monday, where wind and rain impacts are possible.
