New water thrill ride Infinity Falls coming to SeaWorld

Rapids ride coming in summer 2018

ORLANDO, Fla. – SeaWorld Orlando announced Thursday that a new water ride called Infinity Falls is coming to the park.

The water adventure will take riders through a new rainforest river experience and plunge them down the world's tallest river rapid drop, according to SeaWorld.

SeaWorld employees told News 6 that the new ride will be "unlike anything else."

“We developed Infinity Falls to tell new stories that showcase the beauty and sheer power of water and the amazing wildlife that lives in it," Brian Morrow, vice president of theme park design experience, said. "The result is a new river rapids adventure for our guests to explore, and actively help freshwater ecosystems in a way that only SeaWorld can bring to life."

Riders will experience category four rapids and then an elevator lift creates the drop on the river raft ride.

Infinity Falls will be the centerpiece of a new themed area in the park "fully immersing guests in a rainforest canopy," SeaWorld officials said.

"The entire family can explore the village and take part in interactive experiences that combine play with education to create a positive impact on freshwater ecosystems," SeaWorld said in a news release.

The location where SeaWorld plans to build the ride and village currently features a flock of flamingos and a quick-service restaurant.

Infinity Falls is set to debut in the summer of 2018.

The rapids will join SeaWorld's ever growing showcase of rides, including Mako, Manta and Kraken, as well as the water drop-off ride, Journey to Atlantis.
