ORLANDO, Fla. – West Coast fast food company Jack in the Box has been teasing its entry into the Central Florida market since 2022.
Now it appears construction is set to begin at a location in Orlando.

Orange County records show a permit for a Jack in the Box was applied for back in April at a property on 5324 S. John Young Parkway, at the corner of JYP and Conroy Road. The location is a long-closed Burger King.
News 6 found a Notice of Commencement for “Restaurant Renovation” was filed on July 24 at the same location on the county comptroller’s website.
The notice names the lessee who contracted for the work as Jonathan Peralta.
Peralta was named as a Jack in the Box franchisee in 2023.
PAVCO Contracting Group out of Melbourne is doing the renovations. That company has been responsible for several Del Taco locations around Central Florida, according to the company’s website. Jack in the Box acquired Del Taco in 2022.
Jack in the Box, a California-based chain known for serving burgers, tacos and milkshakes 24 hours a day, plans to open at least 20 franchises in Central Florida. The company has named at least three franchisees so far: Peralta, Ed Zausch, and Dan Soma, who was named back in June.
According to reporting by the Orlando Business Journal, Jack in the Box is also building a location in Lake Nona in Orange County, and Osceola County approved a location along West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway back in May. OBJ also reports the first location should be open by the end of the year.
The Jack in the Box franchise website lists locations coming to Orlando, Palm Bay, Lakeland, Deltona and Palm Coast.
According to the company’s website, the estimated initial investment for a Jack in the Box franchise is between $1,697,000 and $2,694,600. The site also said the company requires a minimum liquidity of $500,000 and a minimum net worth of $1 million for franchisees.
