Next Winn-Dixie store set to open in Central Florida this weekend

Grand opening will gift prizes to the first 100 customers

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Winn-Dixie is set to open its next location in Central Florida this weekend, with some prizes in store for the first customers in line.

This latest opening comes as part of a new initiative to transform seven Harveys Supermarket stores into Winn-Dixie locations.

“The conversions mark another step forward in the company’s evolution to The Winn-Dixie Company, reflecting a sharpened focus on growing the Winn-Dixie brand and delivering a more unified grocery experience for customers,” a company spokesperson said.

That said, the upcoming Winn-Dixie store is expected to open at 3435 N. Pine Ave. in Ocala on Saturday, March 28.

But that’s not all.

In a release, the company revealed that the first 100 customers in line when the doors open at 8 a.m. will receive a Winn-Dixie “mystery gift card,” which will range in value between $10 and $100.

Guests can also enjoy DJ entertainment, giveaways, product sampling, activities for children, hourly raffle prizes and grand drawings starting at 9 a.m. for a chance to win three $500 gift cards, a smoker, a YETI cooler or a Blackstone Grill.

Other major features included in the new Ocala store are as follows:

  • Expanded authentic Hispanic offerings across very department
    • Produce staples like roots, tropical fruits, plantains and fresh culantro
    • Deli favorites including ropa vieja, sweet plantains and cold cuts
    • Bakery specialties such as tres leches cake and Cuban/Puerto Rican rolls
    • Favorites like flap meat, skirt steak and picanha
    • Whole snapper and corvina in seafood
  • New seafood department
    • No offering shoppers a variety of fresh seafood on ice and “Seafood Made Easy,” where customers can choose the type of seafood, vegetables and seasoning to be packaged together for easy preparation at home
  • Enhanced deli
    • Featuring new, freshly sliced meats and cheeses
    • An expanded variety of easy meal solutions, such as daily self-serve hot foods, freshly prepared sandwiches, salads, and Winn-Dixie’s iconic Lip Lickin’ Chicken
  • Refreshed departments
    • Including produce, bakery, meat, floral and grocery, each with an updated design, expanded selections and improved customer experience
  • Modernized store design
    • Comes with a new façade, fresh color palette, and contemporary signage honoring Winn-Dixie’s century-long legacy
